Located in County Down, the Ards Peninsula causes an attractive vista with Strangford Lough shaping a nearly semi-circular peninsula interested out there at the Irish Sea. It's without doubt most unconventional shaped peninsula on the island of Ireland, majority of who are far more sharply fjord like defined. The Ards Peninsula is nicely populated with busy town of Newtownards on the north of it being the biggest settlement. Portaferry is a beautiful village on the south where there's a vehicle ferry to enable you cross to the County Down mainland. Another very attractive village located there's Portavogie and the peninsula is an excellent base for sea fishing inside the Irish Sea and the Strangford Lough itself. Newtownards has a multitude of accommodation whilst more south hotel accommodation is lacking but more than compensated by many guesthouse and B&Bs that offer a warm welcome and offer the visitor. Sights to see include Grey Abbey, and that is the ruins of an old Cistercian Monastery, and Mount Stewart, that is an 18th century mansion and gardens open to everyone in the summer season period.

Dingle Peninsula

The most famous and frequented peninsula in Ireland, the Dingle Peninsula is found in the heartland of tourism contained Ireland, County Kerry. There so many attractions on this stretch of coastline which they merit a guide in its own right. Foremost is the beautiful town of Dingle, a town of aproximatelly 2,000 people which swells to about 2 million, it appears, in the summer days. The town has a lot of attractions and is a great foundation for exploration of the overall Kerry area. Lively bars, a welter of accommodation coming from hostels on the five-star Dingle Skelligs Hotel, a huge range of eating places to rival Kinsale inside neighbouring Cork as gourmet capital of Ireland make Dingle a compulsory stop on any type of vacation in the region.

One of the driving highlights from the Dingle Peninsula is negotiating the Conor Pass, the highest mountain pass of Ireland, across the top part of Mount Brandon at about 1,000 metres. On an effective ay the views are spectacular although days that are good are hard to come by as fog on the good is a frequent occurrence.
